The storms over the summer have washed out the bridge. But other than that awesome hiking
Nice trails, you can walk along base of mnt or go up. Beautiful out!
Really nice!
Great spot! Lots of trails, lots of views.
This is a great place to park for an easy summit hike; it's just street parking, but since the trail isn't super popular, and this is just a small neighborhood, you shouldn't have any trouble finding parking.
As you enter the trail, it's very clear to head straight south, but soon you'll encounter a large gravel area, surrounded by large rocks, with a few paths heading different directions. If you're headed for the summit, keep heading south, and you'll find the path forks in two.
You could technically take either, but the more logical one is the slightly wider one to the southeast (left, relative your hiking direction); that path crosses a line of flat rocks someone has place (maybe to mark a property line?). It'll soon enough cross another trail, but keep going straight to the first peak on this trail. There, it dead-ends into another trail. Head southwest (right, toward the main peak), a short distance to another trail intersection. Here, the trail becomes steeper and more difficult to see. Continue up along the path of least resistance, and the trail will head a bit behind the mountaintop before twisting westwardly to the summit. It's a rocky scramble, but the view is nice.
If, from the rocky circle, you instead choose to take the southwest path (right, relative your hiking direction), it follows a small gully before dead-ending on another trail. If you turn northeast (left), it'll meet up with the wider trail described above, at which point you would turn south toward the peak. If you choose to turn west, you'll end at a trail that appears to head south straight up the mountain to the peak, but this path is much rockier, steeper, and not developed; it's much better to take one of the established trails.
Riyam - Muttrah Hike (C38). Overview: Fun hike in the capital area with great views of the sea and Mina Sultan Qaboos. I like to start off at Riyam Park and hike towards Muttrah so I can have a juice in Muttrah when I finish, but you can certainly travel in reverse.
