Guitar and Bass Lessons with Johnny Lightfoot

Johnny is a rockstar undercover. I’ve taken bass lessons from him for a number of years, and just started guitar lessons. He has a way of communicating that de-mystifies music theory. I have no doubt he could unload libraries of theory, but he breaks it down to meet his students’ abilities and goals. He gets you moving ahead in a short amount of time. I feel I’ve grown way faster than I would have under other conventional teachings. He truly creates a unique, personalized experience.

I currently take my lessons over FaceTime, as I’ve moved out of the area. We don’t miss a beat. I get all the printed information for our lessons ahead of time (which are invaluable themselves). Johnny is then able to communicate the information during the lesson just as if we were in the same room. Without that ability, I wouldn’t be able to take a fraction of the lessons I take now. Although I just started guitar, I feel that I can hang on basic, simple rhythm guitar with other musicians. I’m stoked.

If you’re thinking of music lessons related to bass or guitar (and also drums), he’s your guy. I’m confident he’ll bring out your inner musician.

Fresno has some rare gems and Johnny is one of them! My 11 year old is flourishing as a result of his custom virtual lessons with Johnny. He has a unique approach to guitar exploration that makes playing more accessible to learners that actually helps facilitate, not compromise understanding of musics complexities. It’s nice for my son to be able to continue his music education at a time we are staying home due to covid. Johnny’s flexible adaptability makes it just as valuable an experience as in person lesson would be. So glad we’re here!!!!!

Johnny is one of the most enthusiastic teachers that I know! He taught my son how to play the guitar years ago and now he is helping me to play. He presents his lessons in a simplistic manner. He teaches you at your speed while building your confidence of being able to play the guitar. What a gift that Johnny has to be able to inspire students of all ages to want to be musically involved.

I am an older adult who has always wanted to learn to play guitar. I feel very fortunate that I found Johnny as a teacher when I finally got serious about taking lessons. His methods are very flexible, not rigid as you might imagine guitar lessons to be. He caters the lessons content to each student's interest and goals. Your progress is limited only by your effort and the time you devote to your guitar.

I always look forward to my lessons - it is the shortest hour of my week. Johnny is so knowledgeable about all aspects of the guitar - its history, players, and techniques that you will learn much more than just how to play the notes on your instrument.

Probably the best part about Johnny's teaching method is that you are quickly making music - not spending endless hours doing drills. It is a really fun way to learn. I can't recommend Johnny highly enough.
