Very lovely store - great variety, great condition. Very nice owner. The collection of sequined dresses is simply amazing. Great visit, I definitely recommend !
Golyester is a fabulous vintage clothing store to experience going back in time, when it comes to fashion. Kelly is knowledgeable and extremely helpful when it comes to helping you find just the right piece to perfect the certain look... I tell everybody about the Golyester standard...
What a wonderful store run by lovely, helpful people! I had such fun buying my Christmas gifts at this heaven for vintage junkies like me. It's the best vintage store that I have found in LA - and I have been to most of them. It has a great range of both men's and women's delights.
With 35+ years of success as a pioneering dealer in vintage clothing and textiles in Los Angeles Esther Ginsberg has the "Golden Eye". As an indefatigable sleuth and shopper, she has built up a network of local and national sources in search of the rare, the eccentric, the best. Her clothing and textiles have made their way into major American and Canadian museums. ( I know because I've bought from her numerous times over the past 20 years and then placed important Modernist textiles from her in the costume and textile collections like the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, RISD Museum, Cooper Hewitt, Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, the American Museum of Textile History and others. Objects from her collections appeared in the LACMA's recent California Design exhibition.) These fine textiles are only one aspect of her merchandise, perhaps less important than her vintage clothing. Major Parisian couturiers traveling to LA find inspiration among her stock of dresses, shoes, purses and jewelry . Several internationally known actors/actresses and comediennes are her faithful customers. That is not to say the majority of the objects in her shop are priced beyond the tighter budgets of youthful fashionistas. Through several changes of address (including her recent move to 450 South La Brea) her shop has remained a prime destination for shopping in LA, a glamorous and deliciously funky ornament to the city.
