As I aged, my primary care physician wanted me to start seeing a cardiologist, recommending Dr. Cohen, who worked then in Long Beach before moving to his Torrance office.
I was diagnosed with a damaged, life-threatening mitral valve in late 2006, when I was 70 years old, but still playing baseball weekly with guys in their 30s, 40s and 50s. Dr.Cohen sent me to one of the best heart surgeons in the country, at USC's Keck Medical Center. (After that surgery I went back and played baseball two more years. But it got too hard to hit those 70 mph fastballs, so I retired.)
Now It's 14 years later, and that valve is still performing like the original equipment. I visit Dr.Cohen for twice-yearly follow-ups. I've always "aced" those treadmill tests. (Don't tell him, but here's the secret: Take longer steps.) Best of all, I'm still working 60 hours a week at 84, running my own business.
5 stars aren't enough for David Cohen, but that's as far as I can go on that scale. He's a great doctor . . . . and a great guy!
