Truckee Donner Lodge

Most efficient check in ever! The room was clean but the heater thermostat seemed to be broken. Ended up having to leave the window open. I didn't try the breakfast, but from what I saw of it that might be for the best. Overall fine if you need to spend a night in Truckee.

FANTASTIC LOCATION. I stayed here a few weeks ago and couldn't believe the location. It's less than 1 mile to Donner Lake and I took a lovely morning walk on the paved path to get there one morning. There are great amenities. I started my morning with some hot coffee and quick bite to eat at their breakfast bar. It has a small library, warm blankets in the room, great views, and helpful staff. It's just outside of the busy Downtown area but only 4-5 minutes away by car. There are great hikes nearby and Donner Lake has year round access. I highly recommend a stay here.

Traveling from Florida to California, my girlfriend and I ran into a snow storm. This was the nearest hotel and by the grace of god it was the very best one I’ve stayed at this entire trip. Not just for the amazing staff, but for the cleanliness as well. There’s a fireplace in the lobby and amazing complimentary breakfast in the AM which was delicious unlike the other hotels that we booked. Brooke at front desk is the kindest woman you’ll ever meet. She came out in the blizzard to help me and my girlfriend with tips and tools when we got stuck in the parking lot from all the heavy snow. I highly recommend this place!!

I was supposed to stay elsewhere one night but my reservation got lost. I booked a night here via a third party site because it had the best rates (that wasn't a sketchy-looking motel). When I arrived, lo and behold, my reservation was technically on the wrong date. (At this point, it was nearly 3am, and I could not check in until 3pm).

Cue the EXCELLENT customer service. I was helped by an employee at the front desk named Dana. He was not only incredibly friendly, but extremely understanding and accommodating. He SAVED my evening, my sanity, and my "relaxing" vacation! He saw that there was a room available, got me checked in, and I was able to finally rest after a LONG day of driving from San Francisco to Truckee late at night.

He not only helped me snag a room, but he helped me reverse a complicated issue with the third party site (note to self -- call a property DIRECTLY for availability, deals, and more because 3rd party sites take so much from small businesses!).

The room was spacious, clean, and the bed was very comfortable. I had considered cancelling my booking at the other resort so I could stay here longer...but I will be sure to keep this amazing hotel in mind for a near-future visit. Breakfast and coffee are included, as well as gorgeous outdoor scenery. It is also very conveniently located.
