  My mother had been living with my brother, however, her dementia had progressed to where he could no longer manage her care in his home. We mistakenly moved her into an assisted living facility close to Somerford Place thinking it would give her a more “normal” experience, but it quickly became obvious that they were unable to give her the attention she needed. In realizing this, we took the time to look at many memory care facilities (including Board and Care homes) and, after visiting Somerford Place and speaking to a relative of a long-time Somerford resident, we decided to move her here.
  Since then, I’ve had much contact with the office and care staff. Their Sales Director Carrie Compton performs her job like a Social Worker; what are the specifics of the situation and, with all things considered, what is the best solution at hand. She was conscientious, professional and gave me a very comprehensive tour. The entire staff is friendly, engaged and attentive. They are all personable, dedicated and welcoming to visitors. They were quick to learn my mother’s idiosyncrasies and adapt to them. Their programs are enjoyable, upbeat and professional. My mother is happier and more relaxed because of how well she is being taken care of.
  In summary, I was nervous about moving her to a memory care facility as I imagined that it would be an environment that would be un-stimulating and sad. At Somerford Place, this couldn’t be further from the truth. I recommend them wholeheartedly.

  Somerford stands out from other memory care facilities with its exceptional community and skilled nursing staff. The nurses have always been incredibly attentive in my experience and quick to help whenever needed. Events like the Classic Car Show and BBQ are phenomenally well done, and a great experience for the residents and a way of connecting them to the larger local community. Overall, Somerford is a very inspiring place to be a part of!

  Somerford Place in Encinitas is by far the best Assisted Living place in North County San Diego. I have had experience with at least 3 residents in this Facility and visit another on a weekly basis.
  
  The first time I visited this Facility I was immediately impressed with the calm , friendly, and joyful demeanor of staff and residents......the tell tale sign of a quality living environment.
  
  Management and staff work closely with each resident and family in a team environment. No matter what the issue, it is resolved quickly and efficiently.
  
  Staff and caregivers have a compassionate and caring attitude and really bond with each resident in a fun and loving way. Caregivers are assigned to one of 4 small communities with dedicated staff in each. This way the staff really get to know each residents needs and ensure maximum quality of life for each.
  
  The quality of care far surpasses most other facilities in that residents are checked every half hour and staff ensures that each resident stays involved in activities as desired. They make sure to get each resident up each day to give them a sense of purpose and sense of accomplishment.
  
  The grounds are perfect with many outside seating areas to enjoy the perfect weather in Encinitas why at the same time allowing residents the freedom to live and enjoy their lives independently. The caregiver to resident ratio is the lowest I've seen.
  
  The Somerford lifestyle and quality of care truly stands out in North County and is top on my list of recommendations to family and friends.

  Somerford continues to exceed expectations on their level of care. I go in often and everyone always has a smile on their face and you always see the staff pleasantly interacting with their residents. They have incredible events for their residents and families as well. If you’re looking for a memory care community that feels like home with an incredible staff, call Somerford!
