Mt. Woodson Trail

Super steep trail but totally doable and worth it! This is the quickest way to the famous Potato Chip Rock. We knocked it out pretty quick during a nice overcast day and were able to catch a pack of goats at the top!

If you haven't been to Potato Chip yet, I recommend you get out and go before the heat gets to intense. Right now you can enjoy a nice calm 65-70 degrees.

There are tons of great photo spots so be sure to keep your phone charged or bring a nice camera to really step things up.

Great hike today with the family, challenged each one of us as we are quite the rookies. Quality family time with many memorable moments. Recommended!

Breath taking mixes of trees, shrubs, huge boulders, and views of the surrounding mountains, highways, and scattered habitats. Paved pathway. Steep enough to attract well fit hikers and runners and slightly challenging for starters but the views will keep everyone intrigued. The tall entennas and the "Potato Chip Rock" at the top offers nice rewards for those who make it there. The slightly lower temperatures at the top will help cool you down. Promise to be one of the most unique hikes around!

This is a less populated trail which goes to the Mt. Woodson summit & Potato Chip Rock. This trail is a windy road which is constantly going uphill, around giant rocks to the top.

Hikers experience an elevation gain of 1,300 feet in just 2.2 miles (11 percent average slope).

Parking is on the side of highway 67. Bring plenty of water. Don't attempt this hike when it's very hot.

2.2 miles to Potato Chip Rock. Uphill, be ready. Bring at least 64 oz. of water if hiking in the day/sun. Recommend starting first thing in the morning when it's cooler. Great views. Potato Chip Rock right next to towers/antennas for landmark.
