Smallgoods Cheese Shop & Cafe

If you are a fan of cheese you absolutely NEED to get to small goods! Actually, even if you're not you should still stop by, maybe you'll be won over. What a wonderful La Jolla small business. I had a plate recently and I'm not being hyperbolic saying it's the best cheese platter I've had in my life. Favorite of the bunch was the Sweet Grass Dairy Green Hill. The owners sure know how to pick 'em. I'll be back for sure!

Smallgoods is a great small, 3-person, business in La Jolla where you can find great cheese, cured meats, sandwiches, tea, legit baguettes, all of excellent quality and flavor. I've recently organized a virtual wine tasting for 26 people, and worked with Smallgoods to provide each person a charcuterie board large enough for 2 people. The items were absolutely exquisite and provided a range and variety of succulent flavors that would easily accommodate any wine we paired. The owners were very accommodating in adjusting the platters according to our group's different dietary restrictions and were very responsive throughout the planning stages for this event. I personally loved my platter, and I've gotten a lot of praise from my group about theirs too; safe to say everyone was happy! (I've included a picture of my platter which contains twice the meat, a kind donation from my undergrad who's now vegetarian, but each platter had 4-5 pieces of each cut of meat. Enough for 2 to enjoy.)
I also bought 2 goat cheeses for myself, as well as a bit of black truffle butter, which were undeniably and decadently delicious. I am excited to continue to visit Smallgoods many times more!

The most amazing salami and turkey I’ve ever had. Their freshly shredded cheddar and alpine mix is scrumptious. I went here to get a platter for a date with my husband at the beach. I have a lot of allergies and follow a strict diet and the owners provided exceptional customer service, ensuring I had uncured meats, aged cheeses, and no gluten. We had a romantic beach date with this delicious food. Thank you!!

I love small goods!! I really can’t say enough good things about them. The owners are lovely people who are beyond intelligent when it comes to meat and cheeses. Whenever I pick up a cheese, I go home with a smile because there’s nothing like it! The sandwiches are so fresh and filled with flavor. My boyfriend and I recently ordered a cheese platter for a date at Kate sessions and they were SO helpful. Mike asked us what we were drinking, if we wanted more meats or cheese, and truly made us the perfect platter. You must do yourself a favor and check them out!!

Amazing quality and service! I sent a charcuterie platter to my brother and family in La Jolla and am beyond thrilled with the beautiful platter they received. It was not just a creative design but truly a work of art. My family raved about the wide variety and freshness of the cheeses and meat. Mike was a pleasure to work with.
