Ray is hands down the best trainer in the bay. I started working out with him a few months ago after consulting a few trainers in the area, and so far every single workout has been killer. I'm a pretty active person and I've worked out consistently on my own (lifting, competitive breaking, basketball), but working with Ray has definitely helped me take everything to the next level. He definitely takes the time to get to know you and your goals and tapers the training program accordingly with a no-BS approach, and always gives you that extra push you need to get that last rep and maximize the output of your workout. He also pays close attention to form and provides live feedback so you can perform each exercise/lift safely and efficiently. In terms of the facility - the location is convenient and parking is always available. The gym is kept clean and properly sanitized, and provides a very welcoming atmosphere.
Don't sleep on Ray if you're in the area! Highly recommend booking a session with him.
Ray is the BEST! I hired him originally to help me prepare for my wedding day in November. He helped me achieve my goals in time for the big day! After the wedding I took a ~3 week hiatus from training and was unsure about going back since it wasn't part of the original plan. I just signed up for an additional 10 classes because my body was craving those workout drills - can't get a workout like I get with Ray anywhere else (Orangetheory, Barry's, etc just doesn't compare). If you're looking for a trainer who will help PUSH you until "failure" which I learned is a good thing, is responsive & reliable, is willing to take videos for you for the gram, and make each workout different/fun, look no further!
Like everyone else, you plan on going to the gym, then you walk around aimlessly to hit up some reps on various machines and free weights. But after a few sessions, you feel like nothing is happening and you don't end up pushing yourself. You feel good about going to the gym, but at the end of the day the results are just not there! Ray changed my perspective on how to get fit and how to pay attention to the diet as well. After 3 months, I felt very good and the data showed the results were positive! My core was much stronger! We focused on helping me improve and strengthen my golf swing too. Huge results. No joke. He understands each client's needs and customizes the training accordingly. It has been 9 months and I am feeling the most fit and strongest in my whole life! Looking forward to 2020 as we step it up! I would give Ray shot, you got nothing to lose!
My husband and I have been working out with Ray for almost a year now and we are so happy with our results and we have Ray to thank. He is an expert in his craft and is dedicated to his clients.
Ray has been a major catalyst in improving my fitness and overall health. I've been training with him for a little over 7 months and I can feel and see major improvements throughout my entire body. Numbers don't lie - I have seen pretty much every metric in terms of my health improve. This has included a reduction in my LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, and improved body composition in terms of fat and lean muscle mass. When I started training with him, I was at 18% BF. As of today, I am at 14.5% BF, while putting on close to 8 lbs of muscle. In terms of conditioning, I can see how my heart rate recovers much more quickly compared to when I first started training with him.
As a personal trainer, Ray is conscientious and attentive during each session. He pays close attention while you're doing each exercise and is able to communicate subtle adjustments to correct your form and get the most out of every rep. I also really like that he mixes in athletic drills in addition to the strength training so that I can work on agility and explosive movements. This is definitely a plus for all my weekend warrior activities. He has an endless variety of different exercises so you're always challenged and you never plateau in your training.
What really makes him the best though is that he is really approachable and lacks any sort of ego. Coming into my first session with him I really had little to no knowledge about fitness or where to even begin in terms of working out. In spite of this, he has always been patient and has taken the time to answer all of my questions and explain everything. Ultimately, you will have to put in the work, but Ray is an awesome teacher who will provide you with the help and guidance to reach your fitness goals. If you want to see results, this is the man you want to see.
