I don’t even know where to start! Every believer should visit Israel! I guess we waited this long just so we could experience it all with Wings of Eagles. Our group was small. We got to know each other as we learned about the geography and history of Israel together, and now we have a bond of friendship that endures. Doron and Harriet took our little group to places the giant tours cannot access. We took turns reading appropriate Scripture at various sites, and wow, did that make it all come alive!
This morning we were reading in Matthew about Jesus going from Gennesaret (been there!) to Tyre & Sidon, and then back to Galilee with people who followed him for 3 days. Now I get it! Although Jesus did not multiply the loaves and fishes there for us, we did enjoy a variety of fresh and amazing food at our first kibbutz! I absolutely loved the Galilee’s rural setting and tropical plants. Dates and pomegranates, anyone? And then there was the peaceful sunrise over the Galilee, and all the fish checking out our toes!
We were transported about in our spacious and comfortable bus by Mike, the best driver ever, on roads that I would not attempt even in a compact car. He was impressive! Plus, he always had cool water available before and after our treks. And a cheerful smile.
After leaving the northern part of this little country, we stopped at Yardenit where several of us were baptized in the Jordan by some cheerful Brazilian Baptists. Then we continued south for more adventures. Mike skillfully took us on the old Jericho Road, the hot and desolate way Jesus would have walked from Jericho, and we bought some little bracelets from a young Bedouin boy near the Valley of the Shadow.
Jerusalem was a city like no other. Beautiful white buildings, ornate churches, ruins upon ruins, clashes of culture. I tucked my prayers into the West Wall, and observed first-hand the cultural tensions on the Temple Mount. The Israelis are gracious and welcoming people who want to share their culture and their history. At our Jerusalem kibbutz we got to dine alongside local Jewish families celebrating the Sabbath.
Okay, I could go on and on. Just call Harriet and go!

This trip was by far the most interesting and informative trip I have ever taken. It was also a lot of fun. We started 'touring' the minute we cleared customs. We toured two sites before we got to our kibbutz hotel. Every day was an adventure. Harriet had a morning devotion on the bus every day. When we got to Jerusalem, we had wine and bread as we overlooked the city. The next morning started out with a camel ride that a few of us took at the top of the Mount of Olives. Then we walked the Palm Sunday road in to the city.

Doran (our guide) was very knowledgeable of the Scriptures as well as archeology. True to his word, he kept us safe and secure at all times. Our driver Mike took the bus in places one could not imagine. I would like to test his skills in Colorado on the Look Out Mountain trail. The state does not allow buses to take the twisting, curving section of the trail. I am sure that Mike took us over a few roads that are comparable.

As Harriet told us several times prior the trip that our bible reading would never be the same - it is very true in my case. Reading the bible a lot keeps the memories fresh. The Israel and Holocaust museums are awesome. This trip really gave my moneys' worth and more.
