We took the bus tour because it was really windy and snowy. What a cool experience to see the dino remains emerging from the earth after all these years after extinction. We had the BEST tour guide EVER! He was very informative, very funny and very professional. He helped us identify tracks and bones that are still in the earth. Such a cool experience.
I highly recommend coming to the Dinosaur Ridge after Red Rocks. I parked near the visitor center and walked the closed road around the ridge to the other side. The walk is not very long and there are various sites the entire length. Obviously the main attraction are the fossilized foot prints, they are very well preserved. I really enjoyed all the other sites as well, the water ripples, alligator tracks, fossilized bones, ash, and the indentations. Some areas you can really see the geologic layers and can only think of what will be found next. Due to the variety of fossils, preservation and the rich geology, Dinosaur Ridge is one of my favorite locations in Colorado.
Cool little place (once you figure out what/where it is - a closed road with dinosaur fossils). It was definitely a treat seeing bones embedded in the rock, right there for you to touch. Informational signs along the way help you identify what you're seeing.
Fun museum to visit! We love dinosaurs so this was one of our first stops when we moved here. The main indoor museum is small but informative about the history of Colorado and why dinosaurs lived here. The outdoor walk is the best part where you can still see bones in rocks and foot prints of different dinosaurs and different aged dinosaurs. The tour guides are knowledgeable and friendly too.
Great experience. Very interesting to see real life dinosaur bones and tracks. Perfect for kids / family fun day. You can walk the 2 miles or take a 45 minute tour. Our tour guide had a lot of knowledge. Visit the gift shop for some cool neat things too.
Visitor Center Gift Shop. Our Main Visitor Center Gift Shop is where you'll purchase your bus tour tickets, pick up a map, obtain information, or find a souvenir to remind you of your visit to Dinosaur Ridge.
