We were ready to give our dog up because of aggression issues and because it was exhausting to have him (he pulled on walks, would run off to another dog and ignore us, etc.). Suzi was a game changer and I would never have another dog without working with her.
My husband & I found Suzi in 2007 after 1 of our dogs attacked another dog of ours (we were also starting to have aggression issues on walks too towards stranger dogs, but never people). When we met Suzi, we had 3 dogs (all rescued in one form or another) and thought we were doing a fairly good job in terms of training & leadership. She helped us recognize our strengths, but also to see the little things we didn't realize that we were doing that were causing some of the issues we were dealing with. Since 2007, our pack has been as big as 6 (always with strong breeds/energies), and is now at 5. Throughout this time, 2 of our dogs have graduated from Suzi's obedience program, all have had private & group sessions with her in multiple locations, they have boarded with her when we have traveled and we have continued to consult with her on an as needed basis when rehabilitating dogs (none went through a board & train).
See my responses below to questions others have asked and understanding that we have not done a "board & train," but I have see great results in dogs that have gone through Suzi's board & train program .......
1. When your dog returned home did it resume behaviors of wanting to attack other dogs close to your home or was this behavior significantly changed?
This has been a process & has looked different for each of our dogs (note that the behaviors we have worked with in our pack have had a different intensity due to having a pack). All of our dogs have not had aggression issues, but the challenges we have dealt with improved after working with Suzi, but know that it is a process both of understanding the root causes & of becoming a stronger pack leader.
2. After returning home was there a lot of followup training that you, the owner, had to do? If so, was it something you did daily for a certain amount of time?
Training & pack leadership is a life long commitment (regardless of the breed or issue), but it is not something that we have had to do in a formalized way throughout the years. Initially we spent roughly an hour/day doing formalized training, but now it is more "leadership maintenance." In the first few years, we did follow up training with Suzi (group & private) to continue to work on issues that came up, but now we only consult with her when we have introduced new dogs. She is very good at what she does and has helped us tremendously through the years-most importantly to not see our dogs as something that could be "fixed" without a lot of involvement & responsibility on our part. Suzi has helped us to recognize our dogs needs, impulses, and their responses to their surroundings.
3. After returning home from training were you able to take your dog for walks and walk by other dogs without your dog showing aggressive behavior towards other dogs?
We have continued to take our dogs for walks in many settings throughout the years (in a variety of configurations in terms of number). Aggressive behavior toward other dogs is something we have dealt with a lot, but have come to recognize the triggers (both in ourselves & our dogs and other owners & their dogs) and know how to deal with it if it arises.
4. After returning home was your dog aggressive to people? Are there still percautions you take to make sure your dog is safe around people/not aggressive?
We have only had one dog with human aggression issues (small mixed rescue dog), which we will continue to correct when he displays any aggression and he will be on a leash when strangers are near him.

I know some of the local shelters use the Canine Psychology Center in Colorado as a last resort. They specialize in severe aggression and behavioral issues. It's not exactly "local", about 8.5 hour drive.
