Dr Howton has literally saved my life. I won't go into diagnosis and treatment. But when I first saw him I was barely verbal, confined to bed, in short non-functioning. We have worked with the full complement of nutrition, supplementation, and prescriptions as needed to get me on the the road to improvement. He is thorough. He thinks outside the box. He is compassionate and persistent. I thank God that I found a traditional doctor who also practices functional medicine and who was willing to walk the road to wellness with me.
I had my thyroid removed due to thyroid cancer. I was referred by my surgeon to see an endocrinologist they set me up with. The endocrinologist they refered was bad and not helpful. I got Dr. Howtons name from someone who was also referred to the same bad endocrinologist. So I made an appointment with Dr. Howton. He listened, did the right blood work and made a real difference in my care. He gets the thyroid thing. Most regular doctors do not get it and apparently endocrinologist either. I have referred others to see him.
I have been seeing Dr. Howton for 10+ years. Despite now living out of state, I still travel back to Colorado for appointments. I trust him to treat me based on his conscience, not how an insurance company will reimburse him to treat me. I recommend him.
After many months of stomach upset, my primary care doctor wanted me to have numerous medical tests and start daily prescription medicine. I decided to try a different route before submitting myself to her recommendations and went to visit Dr. Howton. The first visit was very thorough, and after a full set of blood and urine tests, Dr. Howton wrote out a plan. I eliminated certain foods and added in specific supplements based on the results of my blood tests. Within a week, I started to feel better. It has now been 6 months and I no longer have the daily stomach pain I endured for so long. This type of treatment may not be for everyone and certainly isn't for every illness, but it changed my life.
