  I love living right on the lake. The views are spectacular & the amenities in the building are insane. Tennis court, 2 adult pools, kiddie pool, dutch saunas, gyms, onsite garage valet & self parking, billiards room, table tennis room, racquetball court, outdoor running track, concrete garden w/ gazebos & built-in chess tables, children's play room, community room, a lovely, large party room with bar you can rent out for large private gatherings, package deliveries receiving room, state of the art laundry facilities, 24hr doorperson, security cameras, key fob secure entries, huge service elevator & modernized touchscreen personal elevators. Street level in the building you have a grocer, personal trainer, realtor, ATM, dentist & doctor. Around the corner outside we have four fenced in dog potty areas that can be used as "runs". You seriously never have to leave! These things come in handy for the winter & the older tenants. The units are extremely spacious with numerous layouts. 40ft balconies cover the outside of every room with huge sliding glass doors in each to see all the way to either Wisconsin or Indiana. Views are wonderful from all floors & directions. (A moderately quiet building. There is a fair amount of construction going on in this building at all times it seems.)
  A quick walk south to Hollywood beach & Lake Breeze Cafe or a block north to the Waterfront Cafe or Loyola campus makes the summer irresistible. A few short blocks to the Red Line L train, Wholefoods, Aldi, Mariano's & Jewel-Osco grocery stores, tons of restaurants & boutique shops, Loyola University, Lake Michigan beaches, beach bars, dog parks, the famous Lakefront trail, theaters, wellness centers, libraries, Sacred Heart school, bike rentals, farmers markets, arts centers, galleries & so much more. Plus on-site 24hr maintenance. There are 1-3 bedroom units. Malibu East also deploys it's own monthly newsletter so you always know what's going on in the building & neighborhood. A friendly building with all walks of life from age to race to religion to four legged friends! Malibu East is its own little 45 story world existing in peace on the shores of Lake Michigan in beautiful Chicago Illinois. A bonus is this building is also our very own polling place! You vote right in the lobby at Malibu East! I would recommend this building to anyone who appreciates beauty, loads of amenities, a sense of community & doesn't mind that this old building needs lots of maintenance.

  It's been two years we live here, simply love this place. The management is super helpful and their staff is extremely friendly, right from the doorman to the receiving room staff everyone is just amazing. My in laws were here and it was absolutely safe for them in the vicinity. Most of the people we meet in the elevators are friendly . Overall the building has great amenities, spectacular view, spacious condos. I would like to thank the management for maintaining the building so well and making our living experience even better.

  I moved in in 1977 as a young married and divorced and bought my own condo on another floor. This is one of the best run condos in the city. Yes, there is construction because the building which was built in 1971 has never been left to run down. The assessments are not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Edgewater has been gentrifying and prices go up.

  You will hard pressed to find a better managed, fiscally stable lakefront condominium property than Malibu East. It is 45-stories tall with 3 floors of parking. Amenities include two swimming pools and a toddler wading pool, handball court, billiard room, ping pong room, tennis court, fitness center, community library, party room, 24-hour doorman, and a receiving room for resident's package deliveries. A commercial mall in its lower level includes a convenience store (with liquor license), doctor, fitness trainer facility, and dentist, among other professional tenants. It is in the heart of the Edgewater Neighborhood, which is full of good schools, shopping, dining, houses of worship, and public transportation.
  The building was built as a condominium property with large rooms and self-contained hot water heaters and HVAC. Most unit have at least one 33-foot balcony, all with lake views. The onsite management office is open five days a week with late hours on Tuesdays.
  New elevators were installed three years ago without a special assessment. In fact, there has not been a special assessment for 30+ years. The board is in the middle of completing a balcony reconstruction project that will be finished 2021, again without a special assessment. Due to the studied funding of reserves by the boards and conservative fiscal management, assessments have increase by a total of only 2.0% from 2014 through 2019.
  Beware of other condo properties touting low assessments. This is undoubtedly a harbinger for surprise special assessments.
