I am a 65 year old male professional, who was a member of this gym. I am not a “muscle head” as the gym states on its walls. I do not wear a muscle shirt, nor drink from a gallon of water, in-between sets. I have always lifted weights, but now at my age, I do very light weight, by choice and just as a result of the ageing process.
When I called this gym to join, I was told they had bench’s to bench press. They do not. They have Smith machine squat racks, that you have to manipulate with a separate a flat utility bench that you have to drag underneath it. There are actually not very many free weight pieces in the gym.
However, their marketing makes them out to be soo inclusive, nonjudgmental…, but only for their chosen people. Marketing that is continuous with one email ad after another.
I worked out early in the morning, with lots of other older people, and was bench pressing before work. I was not even bench pressing my own weight. I was then approached and harassed by the manger “SHAWNTA PELFREY”, that I was repeatedly slamming weights down. I was using low weight and on a smith machine which is a very controlled lift. If this woman really thought, that was “slamming”, she has NO REALL experience in a gym.
She was rude, condescending and I believe had a racist component in this instance.
This gym is truly hypocritical, they are (at least Shawnta was) very judgmental, have little experience with actual exercise management, and are all show. I dropped my membership, and will be reporting my perceived discrimination to the state of Indiana. DO NOT GO HERE, ….unless you are part of their chosen “kind of people”.
The Anderson location was overall nice, not dirty or anything. However, when I signed up online I was under the impression I would be showed around etc etc because that's what the website said. That didn't happen. I had never been in a gym before in my life and had no idea what was what or where.
It's always clean and hardly that busy. The trainer is friendly and works out new exercise plan for you monthly. Also, she listens to you and adjust the exercise plan to help you if your having problems with it. ????
Very good gym. Gets busy at times. Locker room is not cleaned every day. They need to enforce there own rules about guys who take all the weights off the smith machines so they can use them. There is a preset amount of weight that belongs to each machine and it would be nice if I could go to a machine and the weights be there.
