Went here for lunch. Had a great server, great food and had enough for a second meal. I ordered a lunch special of shrimp & scallops over pasta; the shrimp and scallops were large and plump. There was a generous amount of seafood and the sauce was very good. They have a nice wine selection. They lunch special came with soup or a salad, 2 sides and the main meal, for a good price.
The world famous crab cakes live up to their reputation. Good service, staff all the usual stuff you expect. Prices aren't excessive but borderline to it. Still, they give you all you'd expect for five stars!
I love coming here after work for a drink. The bartenders and bar-backs remember you and love talking to you. It's the kind of place where you get a fist bump when you sit down and ask if you want the usual.
Have give a shout out to Phil, too. Great bartender, don't let him go. He's great with anyone and knows his regulars and is always up for a chat about anything.
Pappas is always pretty decent. Good quality seafood all around. Crab cakes and Crab imperial are MD style and excellent (broiled, very little filler, huge chunks of jumbo lump).
That said, it's pretty pricey. Like, 20-35 bucks per entree. I can't confidently say the food/service/atmosphere is good enough to justify that.
The restaurant had a comfortable but efficient feel about it. The crab cakes were excellent, some of the best I've eaten. Light and delicate with large chunks of lump crab in them. Delicious. The side of sweet potato was very good as well. The crab soup was disappointing as it was mainly broth. At our table one other person had the same issue; whereas, another had too much substance and little broth. The servers were very busy and because of that she forgot to ask us about desert before we cleared our check. However, she made good by providing us deserts on the house, to which, we showed our gratitude by giving her an additional tip. I look forward to going back.
