Dr. Henry Achampong MD MS is the "ÅߧO|ūTE" best! Hands down to his knowledge, skills, and abilities to manage, eliminate, and surgically remove pain. In 2014 I had an emergency medical problem that affected my ability to physically move while in a standing position...walk. Dr. Achampong availability for emergency appointments are impeccable! I was able to be seen and discovered the onset of sciatica. It was a relief to be diagnosed instantaneously and treated. Ten years later I am able to walk! I am most thankful for Maryland Pain and Wellness Center's (MDPWC) multiple locations in the Maryland region of Bowie/Crofton and Prince Frederick that are professionally staffed. I have recommended over 20 people to MDPWC.

Last but not least, Dr. Achampong is not only a pain management professional he is also an anesthesiologist and surgeon--you will not have to schedule three different appointments for chronic pain, prescriptions, or referrals to other specialists. Most recently Boston Scientific and Dr. Achampong have created an online meeting place to further explore and share some of the most current and innovative methods and techniques measuring and combatting pain for people like me. He went above and beyond by finding a nearby technician for my brand of internal spinal stimulator. Then he allowed the technician use of one of his own offices (for my traveling convenience). The technician made all needed adjustments and my back finally started to feel better.

Honest, straightforward and helping me find and alternative solution to the heavy medication that I’ve been having to use for the past 13 years. I appreciate exploring this avenue rather than the approach that all the other pain management doctors I’ve had in the past.

Everyone is always professional and considerate. Dr. Achampong, MD MS is a very helpful physician who talks through the relationship of exercise, life to career balance, stressors, physical well-being, and then, if needed, pain management. I have seen him refuse pain management to clients that do not require same. His professionalism and kindness is exceptional and makes the reality of physiological health easier to digest.

Dr. Henry is one of the best doctors I have ever had. Quality, caring, invested pain management doctors are RARE. Prior to finding Dr. Henry Achampong’s practice 8 years ago, I had gone to two other pain management practices, both of which would basically just hand you an opioid prescription and say “see you in a month”. They never seemed to care, and the only thing they were ever worried about was prescribing more medication. Dr. Henry truly cares about his patients. Just for me personally, he has always gone above and beyond, he is very invested and is always doing research and looking at every alternative option instead of just prescribing pills. I had a spinal cord injury in 2020 and was in a wheelchair and was told I would never walk again. Dr. Henry took the time to do a lot of research and read a lot of clinical studies and actually found things that would help to repair the spinal cord damage and I am happy to tell you that today, three years later I can walk most of the time, only requiring my wheelchair for long distances. I recommend him to everyone that asks for a PM recommendation and I truly just can’t say enough good things about him. In the eight years I have been seeing him, I have lived in a couple different places, one of which was over two hours away from his office, but I still always made sure to make the drive because I do not think he is replaceable.
