(December 10, 2012, 11:17 am)My daughter attended La Petite on Old Farm Rd beginning when she was just barely one. The teachers and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We only had a small age related issue while she was there - most of her friends (when she was about 21 months old) had cycled out of the class and new toddlers were being moved into the toddler room. The new children did not have the ability to talk and this is also the age when children can be a little more aggressive. A few times she came home with scratches and bite marks which at the time was traumatic for us. Looking back on it, it is actually normal for children to struggle at that age. The teachers paid close attention to the children and were sure to call us right away when there was a problem.
She stayed at that center until just after her second birthday and then a slot at my work's onsite child care center opened up. The new center focuses a lot on education but has never had the warm touch that La Petite had. At the center where I work, I stop in at nap time each day (yes, even at 3 and a half) and while their toys are nice the education plan for the week is good and the facilities are actually not bad, I do not see my child's artwork on the walls, we don't see pictures of her playing with her friends, and the teachers don't really communicate with me (even though I am there in the classroom for 30 min every day at nap time!)
Because of this we have her enrolled again at La Petite for 2 days a week. In the two weeks we have done this I see my daughter's art work on the walls, they send pictures of her (periodically) to me so I can see her playing with her friends, and my daughter seems much happier. I don't hear that Miss so and so is not nice (or doesn't like me) and I don't have any communication issues with the teachers.
On the surface, the center doesn't have as high quality toys, they don't send a lesson plan home each week, and the floors always look like they need swept but when we look at all the things they do right, well, we are considering moving our daughter back full time because she seems happier and the teachers seem to be happy with their jobs. -

(February 11, 2012, 12:52 pm)My two kids have been to a few different daycare due to moving. La Petite is by far the best one either has attended! Everyone is extremely friendly, and my kids love them all. I recommend this daycare to anyone looking for quality child care!
