Shepherd of the Hill Presbyterian

I love it here. Everyone is so welcoming and kind. It feels like home. They're queer friendly and inclusive and are part of the More Light Presbyterians. They have disability parking, a wheelchair accessible entrance, and accessible restrooms. The restrooms are also gender neutral! They have a food shelf and fresh vegetables in the summer from their gardens! There are a lot of cool missions that the church is a part of, which is amazing. There's also an art gallery inside and they do different art shows throughout the year! So many things to love about this place.

I am not a member of this church however I am there frequently because of work that I do. They are such a loving, open and accepting church. They want everyone to feel wanted by having gender neutral restrooms and accepting LGBTQ. I think it is wonderful to find a small cute little church with such a big heart. I wish more churches were judgement free zone with open arms and a loving message. After all Jesus loved everyone.

I attend the NA meetings here on Friday and Saturday. The group is very inviting and make you feel at ease. You will definitely laugh a lot and leave feeling blessed to have attended.

I'm not big on organized religion but SOTH--Shepherd of the Hill in Chaska isn't your typical church. It's small and the people are truly friendly. They take an interest in you right away and will insist that you stay for the light lunch that follows every service. (Good food, too!) The members of this church are involved and passionate about social justice issues. One example, they are active with Families Moving Forward and help house homeless families in the church, and will provide food, clothes, laundry services, etc for the families. I've been to nearly every church in the Twin Cities that says they are "open and affirming to all" but this church really exemplifies what an open and affirming church is all about. There are LGBTQ members in the church, myself being one of them, and I can honestly say that I've never felt as accepted by a church as I have with SOTH. Pastor Dean's sermons are short and to the point. He covers all the issues that are of concern in our society and he tells it like it is. I have no complaints about this church. I don't go every week but when I'm there, it feels like I'm around people who genuinely like me and are just happy that I've stopped by for the morning. Service starts at 10:30 and I can guarantee you that you will be out of there and sitting down to an nice lunch by 11:30.

I love this church and I'm someone who doesn't like going to church! Real, honest ministry with an emphasis on helping homeless families and one that teaches true equality, acceptance and love.
