  Good place to walk or ride bikes. Nice wide trail to accommodate walkers and riders together.

  Ok listen I don't normally do this but I'm gonna pour my heart out so to speak. I love historical people,places& things and let me tell y'all it's kinda like a bittersweet memory of a time almost long forgotten. We often get to caught up in our everyday lives to stop & remember give thanks to the men & women hell even children that died right here fighting 4 our right to believe it!!!! Whatever it is!!! That's what makes this great Nation so beautiful¡¡¡¡ We don't have to believe what anyone else wants us too. We get to choose,we get too be whomever we choose too. America is the home of the free the land of the great we should be kinder to or fellow Americans. For we r all American People!!!! Oh God right go on the trail y'all:-) lol

  Great trail to ride! It’s just over 15 miles long.
  Just a heads up:
  - If you have never been to this trailhead it’s NOT directly off 24 Highway. From Independence take 24 east past Little Blue Parkway and turn right on Old Lexington Road. Warning: 24 past the Parkway goes up to 65 MPH! From 7 Highway go west on 24 across the Little Blue River and railroad. Old Lexington Road is your first left.
  - From here going south the trail is a little rough with broken up pavement and railroad ballast.
  - Be careful at the railroad crossing! Listen for any trains in the distance, and for bike riders be careful not to let your tires get caught in the grooves! For any “rail fans” this is a busy Union Pacific mainline.
  - Just like at the other parking lots, be aware of any “sketchy” people. 95% of the people here use the trail and shelter as intended, but every once-in-a-great-while there comes someone questionable. Park rangers do check all the trail parking lots.
  - There is a park shelter or picnic table area here.
  - This is a Civil War battleground, and there are historical markers here about the Battle of the Little Blue River.
