  My girl Star had suffered from a rare bone growth in her mouth for many years. After trying desperately to find a Veterinarian to work on Star, nobody was willing to due to the difficulty and risk of the surgery. I was referred to VDS by another Vet who said they saved his patient’s life. I called VDS immediately and from the moment they answered they made you feel like family. VDS was the most exceptional experience I have ever encountered in the veterinary field. From the moment we arrived, the receptionist, Corrine, was so welcoming, caring and efficient. She made you comfortable immediately. Jack and Cynthia, the technicians, comforted Star and made her feel so safe. The doctors then examined Star and informed me of the options and risks. I was hesitant to do the surgery due to the risk, and unlike any other veterinarian facility, the doctors at VDS explained in detail how the surgery would go, never forcing me into any decision, and helped me to completely understand the situation. Before committing to the surgery, I later spoke to the anesthesiologist, Dr. Caniglia, and the surgeon Dr. Eroshin, on the phone and never felt more comfortable. Most places try and rush you off the phone. Instead they each spoke to me on separate occasions for almost an hour with no sign of wanting to end the conversation. Star then went under surgery to remove her bottom jaw. Surgery time came and the whole team was remarkable. They sent pictures and updates of every step throughout surgery. They kept us informed of everything going on throughout the entire day. I have never experienced the level of excellence showed by VDS anywhere (for animals or humans). Star’s surgery was successful. We then decided to leave her in the hospital a couple days so she can flush out the anesthesia and recover successfully. Dr. Eroshin checked on Star at the hospital, on his own doing. On top of that Dr. Caniglia stopped by to check on Star to see how she was and also fed her, at 9:30 on a Friday night. Dr. Rice, who wasn’t even Star’s main doctor, also made himself available to talk on the phone and at the office. This staff is amazing from top to bottom. They truly love animals and its not about money for them. They gave me their phone numbers in case of an emergency and were always there to talk-even over the holidays. Dr. Eroshin removed Stars lower jaw and did such an amazing job you couldn’t even tell it was gone. This team was one of a kind. So professional and talented that I traveled from Manhattan, NYC (1hr and 40 min travel on a good day), several times. I truly wish they covered more than just dental because they are the best at what they do. Star and I would like to thank the entire staff for everything and I will continue to refer to them. If your dog needs dental work done this is the best place I have ever experienced.

  Dr Rice and his team literally saved my French bulldog Mojo’s life. That’s a BOLD statement, but it’s very true. Mojo had a very aggressive squamous cell tumor growing in his lower jaw. 4 other docs, including 2 oncologist and the entire team at RAH said there was nothing they could do except chemo or radiation to give him a few more months. After many trips to see docs all over NJ we finally went to see Dr Kendra Pope, a holistic dr in Redbank. She recommended Dr Carlos Rice. At my first appointment with Mojo, Dr Rice looked at the scan and all the test results, looked at me and said with confidence, “I can save Your dogs life”. We scheduled the surgery for the next day and the rest is history. Pathology came back with clean margins.
  The best Christmas present I could ever ask for was having my boy happy and healthy. Mojo is doing great and Dr Rice Saved the day.

  I recommend VDS to all pet owners who need a dentist. My chihuahua had to have all of her teeth removed, and I felt very confident in the doctor after meeting with him. I was very worried for her to have surgery, but I knew she would be fine with the doctor and other staff here. This place has ‘good vibes’ and everyone is so nice. I’m not sure I would have trusted any other place with my dog. They also have an on board anesthesiologist which is so important, especially with the smaller dogs. Thank you again!

  Like so many others I drove 90 min to get here so we had the initial consultation in the morning and the cleaning/procedure in the afternoon. Shadow was done and ready to come home with me by 5 pm. I was referred by my regular vet in Nutley. I called Red Bank Vet Hospital initially because I had been there a few times and was impressed but they didn't call me back. I called this place and was able to schedule the procedure for the next day because of a cancellation. I ordinarily would be in tears when leaving my baby for something like this but I wasn't this time. I think it was because I knew he was in the right place. Shadow was high risk because he is a cat that's 4 months away from 16. He also has IBD and early kidney disease. Dr Carlos Rice called me after the exam while he was under anesthesia and said he has the best mouth he has seen for a cat his age. All he needed is 1 extraction of the small incisor in the front. It was very easy and he came through with flying colors. Am glad they follow up the next day to make sure he is doing ok with his recovery. Am glad we came here and glad we had this taken care of now, thank you to all!
