  Twenty -eight years ago I was simply looking for a place to meet other Jewish families. BK is a place to do that, but it's also whatever you want to make of it: a place to learn about Judaism, a place to embrace it at whatever level you're comfortable with, a place to be with other folks at holidays, and most importantly for me was a place to make good friends who became surrogate family and to become involved with the community. I can't say enough good things about this community.
  Caveat: you may become so enamored that you end up, as I did, serving on leadership for twenty years. ;-)

  Wonderful, caring community of people who care about social and political Tikkun Olam (repairing the world), and who do not view the synagogue as place to show up only during High Holy Days. Very come as you are- friendly to interfaith, multiracial/ethnic, and LGBTQ+ individuals and families.

  We found B'nai Keshet after moving to Montclair a few years ago. My husband and I had wanted to join a synagogue when we lived in NYC. We never found a place where we felt like our family clicked. Not only did we find a warm and welcoming community here, but our children have had a fantastic experience getting more connected to their Jewish roots while building great relationships. I have found BK to be a welcoming and nonjudgmental environment, where I can finally start to embrace my Judaism at my own pace. Rabbi Elliott is open and accessible. The children's programming is great and is always getting better. We all know that getting kids to Hebrew School can feel like pulling teeth. My kids always leave having learned while having had some fun too.
  BK has a liberal, compassionate, forward thinking, open minded congregation for the most part. This is just right for me!

  My family and I moved to Montclair recently and finding BK was a total homerun. Well we quickly made friends through our kids schools and extracurricular activities, a real community was formed from Bnai Keshet. There are activities for all as well as great services and religious school. Wish I had more time to participate in more activities.

  Warm, spirited, inspiring, down-to-earth, egalitarian, vibrant, evolving, diverse, and welcoming. We make the trek from South Orange to be a part of the BK community! Great place.
