  Went by yesterday with a craving for fried chicken and not only did we satisfy that craving but, we also had some outstanding Short Ribs and Fried Tilapia. The Mac & Cheese was great as was the Candied Yams and the Spinach. All of this served in a clean and well lit environment by a very friendly and attentive staff. Will absolutely go again.

  I am a vegetarian, by all rights I should not like this place... BUT an order of collard greens and rice and beans is about the closest thing to a perfect lunch I can imagine. Counter staff is spectacular and friendly, service feels.like home. Thank you Vonda's

  Really enjoyed eating here on a first date. I ordered the chicken and waffles: the chicken wings were fried to perfection - they weren't heavy with oil and I didn't feel tired or sluggish after eating them. The waffle could've been slightly bigger and a bit crunchier on the outside but that's just my preference with waffles: I like a nice Belgium waffle with this particular dish. I also ordered a catfish box and ginger root lemonade to-go. I was a little surprised by the amount of catfish I received - I was expecting a catfish sandwich and fries however I only received chunks of fried catfish, maybe amounting to 1 - 1 1/2 filets of catfish and a salad. Luckily I grabbed my date's cornbread and put it in the container. The cornbread was good and the lemonade was delicious. There are not very many places in the NY tri-state area that actually live up to their "southern atmosphere" label. This place actually feels like a southern restaurant. Great food and friendly staff that greeted me upon entering. My waiter was very patient. Definitely a restaurant that can accommodate groups as well as a place for first-dates.

  I love Vonda's Kitchen, periodtttt! I ordered the fried fish, so crunchy and light! Cabbage was good, cornbread was great! My beverage was a Ginger Lemonade, it was sweet yet refreshing! My second time coming and will be back whenever I'm in Jersey!!

  The food is always fresh and flavorful, workers hands out good service. I like how neat it is and mood. Will come back again.

(973) 732-4532. I really enjoyed my visit to Vonda's Kitchen, and the only reason I have to take a star off is because of the slow service. On a Sunday afternoon, you can imagine just how packed this place was and despite that, I still decided to dine in. I must admit, I am so happy I did.
