"Happy New Year Everybody"! 🥰2023🥳 🗽🗽🗽 🎊🎊🎊
Greg,
I have just completed 39 sessions of radiation for recurrence of prostate cancer and found the entire staff to be welcoming, friendly, and very professional. To a person, the staff made a challenging process as pleasurable as possible and I thank them for their dedication and patience.
I am especially grateful to Nurse Christine for her compassion and kindness throughout the sessions; from the first day my wife and I met her, we knew we were in good hands.
There is always room for improvement. I have to say that the care given was excellent. I understand that appointments run behind, especially when dealing with the variables & prostate cancer.
The biggest mistakes were made by the scheduler. The last appointment, the day my husband ended 45 treatments, she couldn't hustle him out of the office fast enough. She forgot to give him his goody bag. Might not seem a big deal, but after 9 weeks and 45 treatments, for a cancer patient it's the small things that make it bearable.
My biggest complaint? Recently, within 5 minutes of each other, we received a call to confirm and then a call to reschedule my husband's September 25 appointment because the doctor has a conference. Mind you, this appointment has been on the schedule since mid-March. No one thought to look at the appointments until 2 days before?
VERY inconvenient as my husband has pre-testing and other doctor appointments for hip surgery on October 11th. I was lectured about protocol follow up. I understand that, but what they don't understand is my husband has a doctor appointment every day the week leading up to surgery. EVERY DAY!
His follow up with the oncologist is now scheduled for TWO DAYS before surgery. This has put undue anxiety and stress on my husband and myself.
The lecture about protocol and how we should have waited to schedule the hip replacement surgery was unnecessary. My husband can barely walk and was in the process of scheduling the surgery when he was diagnosed with cancer a year ago. It had been put off long enough. The primary, urologist and orthopedic surgeon signed off on the surgery. We had everything scheduled to flow perfectly. Sorry we are such an inconvenience for their office.
