Tack's Chinese Take Out

Probably the best Chinese I've had on the island. The food came fast. It was super fresh and delicious. I ordered the General Tso Chicken, Shrimp Fried Rice, Beef Lo Mein and Pork Dumplings. To me their food taste like very old school Chinese NYC takeout. If you were around in the 70s and 80s you know what I mean.

The chicken was crisp on the outside and super tender on the inside. The sauce was authentic General Tso sauce. Sweet and spicy. The Shrimp Fried Rice was fresh (not stale rice here). Beef Lo Mein the beef was super tender and the lo mein noodles perfectly cooked. The dumplings were my favorite. Super soft and fresh dough on the inside and a bit crisp on the outside (I ordered them fried).

Tacks has had my heart since i lived in SI. I remember saving up to get a lunch special of general tso's and pork fried rice and eating it up faster than you can say scrumlicious! Tacks is still family owned and operated from what i can tell (and they work hard), flying in from the west coast to eat a childhood guilty pleasure of mind did not dissapoint. Best local chinese takeout place in staten island bar none.

Many people have been saying that the service has went downhill ever since new owners have taken over. Annie has really been trying her best to continue Mr.Tacks services despite her language barrier. The price has gone up, but the food remains delicious. I had the honor to have the cook make a mix of shrimp and beef in curry sauce for me. It was good and saucy!
