Grandma Hoyt's Country Buffet & Catering

Went here with my sister and niece. It was I and my sisters first time. I enjoyed the food. I had pancakes and fried chicken which I thought tasted the same so I’m guessing that same grease was used to cook both. The atmosphere was relaxed didn’t care much for how close the tables were to each other but that seems to be the norm these days when you eat inside a restaurant which is why I don’t do it to often. I especially loved the way that the buffet was served. Those serving were friendly and courteous. My sister suggested that we go back and take my husband but we shall see…

1st time visit. Greated very pleasantly as soon as I walked in. It's buffet style served by workers. They were very nice as well.

I had the meatloaf, country style steak and fried chicken. I liked all, but my favorite was meatloaf. All the hot food was served hot, not warm. Which is the way I like it. The vegetables were good as well. If you want a "small" portion of many vegetables or meat, best tell them. They pile it on. You won't ho hungry here, that's for sure. The rolls and cornbread were excellent. Go back and get as much as your heart and stomach desires.
There is ample seating inside. Must have parking in rear since front looks thin. At $14.96, with iced tea, it's a bit higher than I thought. I'd return though. I'd recommend.

I've been going to Grandma Hoyt's several times a week for about six months now. They have excellent ham, meatloaf, country steak, barbecue, and carrots. The restaurant is family owned and the staff always like talking to you to make you feel welcome. The restaurant has been mentioned in several publications such as "Our State" magazine as one of the best places to eat in North Carolina and I agree with those publications. The buffet is about $12 per person and a single plate is about $11 per person. For most single plates, the portions are generous enough to make the total plate weigh about a pound or maybe a little more.

What an interesting buffet restaurant in a small town, out of the way, that is very worth it to drive to for their buffet. We came here with friends who live in the area and had been here before. This was our first trip here. Pay at the register when you first come in. Pay in cash for best prices as they presently charge a small bit higher for credit cards. Once inside you go to the buffet line but you can't touch anything. There are servers behind the counter and all the food is totally visible to you but behind protective plexiglass. Look things over and the servers will fill your plate fully and if needed off you a second plate. I had to slow them down and make my portions smaller than they wanted as I wanted to road test the choices from fried chicken, baked chicken, ribs, meatloaf, fish, chicken and gravy. This was just one of the serving areas the other three were a salad bar, hot vegetables, and dessert area. They fill your drinks up and come around to keep them topped off. The food was a cut above a typical buffet. What a friendly group of workers. We will be back.

My second time eating here and my husband’s first time. I told him that it was well worth the drive from our house to there to eat. They have the best home cooked lunch buffet that I have ever had.Our next visit will be to try the breakfast buffet.
