Maxie B's

Maxie B’s is the one place I have to go every time I’m in Greensboro. After moving to Atlanta, I have tried to find somewhere like this or that even has cakes as good as Maxie B’s. So far, I haven’t found anything close! The quality and flavor is always consistent. My go-to is All American chocolate but I’ve tried many others. This time I tried the Boston Cream special and it was amazing!

My family tried Maxie B’s for the first time on my birthday. We ordered a couple of pieces of cake late in the evening not long before they closed. There was a long line to order. We tried an assortment of things, like the coconut cake, apple cake, caramel cake, and a lava cake with a side of vanilla ice-cream. The order counter was set up outside of the shop as the inside did not appear to be open. From the looks of it, the inside is quite lovely, but they have made an outdoor seating area in about 4 or 5 parking spaces just in front of their shop. We were lucky enough to find a table after we ordered, and really enjoyed the selection. The staff were very pleasant and once we ordered, it wasn’t long before our order was ready. We’d certainly enjoy coming her again. Each cake was very tasty.

The Maxie B's (Online Order/Pick-Up Edition). I used to live in Greensboro and frequented Maxie B's all the time. So while visiting the area, I knew that I would stop before leaving. So I placed an order online for a slice of their Fresh Strawberry Buttercream Cake. This cake has fresh strawberries tucked in between layers of the cake. I also ordered a piece of their Pink Lemonade Cake. This cake comes with light lemon buttercream and sparkling sugar crystals.

The online system provided a five to ten minute wait time, and before I knew it, I received a message that my order was ready. Upon arriving, I glared into the window at a place once filled with cakes, now reduced to plastic containers filled with cake. Moreover, I was somewhat confused about what line to stand in but realized two separate lines. Finally, I got in the correct line for pick up, gave my name, and received my cake in under two minutes for the total pick-up experience.

Once home, I enjoyed the strawberry buttercream cake. The strawberries were so fresh. The buttercream icing was as good as I remembered, and the taste was phenomenal. The Pink Lemonade cake was outstanding, and the sugar crystals in the icing are a nice added touch. So would I go back to Maxie B's again? Of course, I would go back. The cakes taste great! The online pick-up is easy, convenient, and perfect for a fast in and out experience.

I've been a patron of Maxie B's for 16 years now. Best cakes and desserts around within a 90 mile radius!! Never had a bad cake. Perfect ratio of cake to frosting. Love that you can order half cakes. The staff is very talented and creative with their designs. I've had everything from wedding cakes and cookies, to simple pre-made cakes and even pup cakes! I highly recommend trying the pumpkin chocolate chip cake and the white chocolate peppermint cake. Both seasonal. A few others that are a year-round must include the all-American chocolate cake, hummingbird cake, and fresh apple cake.

Beautiful exterior with raised herb and flower beds outlining the front of the restaurant. Outdoor seating is provided (weather permitting). Ordered one of the homemade, organic, fresh quiche which was frozen and placed it in the refrigerator overnight for defrosting. Instructions were included on baking at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes. It was delicious. Will be going back and providing gift certificates during the holiday season for local friends.
