I was here with friends on a history get away and this is a first rate place to visit!!! If you love War of 1812 history or any military history, this is the place for you!!! Very interesting and well presented displays and all staff were most helpful. Audio visual information was very helpful please start your tour in the visitors center. This will better explain what you will see in the fort. There were also WW2 reenactors present who were very informative. Plan to spend a good chunk of time here as it is so so so interesting!!! Well worth the time and effort to go here. Loved it!!!????
It was very nice. Things were well kept. The only things that were less than, was a misspelling on one of the entries & one display made of glass panels had plastic coating on it that was peeling. We had a pleasant walk around the fort area. We enjoyed all the bunkhouses. The obelisk was an unexpected feature. I grew up near Erie,PA & had often heard of Commodore Perry. I hadn't realized that he had such an impact at Fort Meigs. I enjoyed having those pieces of history put together.
An awesome experience for anyone who loves Ohio and or US history. The expansive museum and largest wooden fort in the United States will leave you amazed as to the accomplishments of our forefathers. Nice staff and clean facilities. Make sure you leave time to spend up to 3 hours here.
This is a decent historical site. The visitor center is clean and well laid out. The fort is impressive in size and in good shape. The exhibits are good, but not exceptional. The path inside the fort is not well maintained so I'd say it is not stroller friendly unless you have a large-wheeled stroller. It seems the fort hosts many events, and I would suggest only going during one of these, otherwise I'm not sure there is quite enough value for the price of admission.
