(November 15, 2018, 2:20 am)Wear your walking shoes. Get your hat. Put on some sun screen and make sure your phone has enough power for all the pictures you’ll want to take.
This is the best rose garden!! It’s the biggest one I’ve visited yet and definitely have the most fragrant roses.
It’s hard to choose the best rose. But I would say, when you visit, look for Mr. Lincoln. It’s a very dark, vibrant red rose and smells amazing.
Parking is easy. There is no entrance fee. And you’ll want to give yourself at least an hour to stroll through this garden. -

(October 10, 2018, 1:06 pm)Beautiful Japanese garden where one can get away from the city noise and find some zen. Also a great spot to take some photographs of nature. The gallery is a great addition to the garden, and the cafe a wonderful spot to relax and have tea in the surround of the beautiful outdoors.

You can see the entire place in about 45 minutes but I'd recommend that you plan about 1.5 hours to really be able to take in all the beauty and detail it has to offer.
They have a rotating selection of Bonsai trees outside, and if you want to see more bonsai trees they have more upstairs from the gift shop. Including a 500 year old juniper.
This place is just amazing. After my first visit I was hooked and bought a year membership. Which was a lot less then I expect. Not only that but you can apply the cost of your tickets to the membership.
When the Japanese ambassador visited the Portland Japanese Garden, he proclaimed it to be “the most beautiful and authentic Japanese garden in the world outside of Japan.”
The attention to detail is outstanding and from what I can tell they use authentic methods to meticulously maintain everything.
