I attended the Christmas event they hold here every year. They have actors dressed in late 1800s - 1900s clothing and playing roles in their Mills, houses, stables, etc. Santa was also there and set up very nicely. This is a well put together Christmas event and I would highly recommend attending!
I like it. Pretty cool piece of history, especially during Christmas time.
We thought an hour or so here would be fun, instead we spent half a day and it was worth every minute of it. Being from the mid-west we had no clue about the history of ranching, now we do. They've done an amazing job of telling the story of western ranching.
Great place near TTU campus, in fact inside it, to witness the great and historic heritage of pure West Texas ranching lifestyle! Must visit place in town for sure!
There's so much history to see and learn about here. Outside, there are real farm buildings filled with time accurate furniture, tools, etc. Inside, there are smaller and more weather sensitive items on display with descriptions as well as written historical information. Related paintings and sculptures can also be found inside. As a historical museum, this is one of the biggest and best I've ever seen. Everything is extremely well maintained and there's so much to see that it takes a few hours to get though. I really can't believe it's free.
