The Eichhorn Clarinet Studio

The four years I spent studying at the Eichhorn clarinet studio were some of the most rewarding and inspiring times in my journey with the clarinet so far. It is rare to find a teacher so dedicated, who is equipped to create a cohesive, well-defined path for improving musically and technically, and at the same time pass along love and passion of the craft to her students.

When I began my clarinet studies with Claire Eichhorn, I was an enthusiastic student, but lacked any formal training. After setting some initial goals, we immediately began working on building a strong set of fundamental skills on the clarinet, which would later prove invaluable. As the difficulty of my exercises and repertoire grew, I found that my assignments were challenging enough to keep me engaged and pushing myself, and my objectives were always crystal clear. This helped me substantially in the process of learning how to practice, which is one of the most important skills you can learn in your journey with music. During my lessons, I was always greeted with patience, enthusiasm, professionalism, and respect. It was one of my favorite times of the week, and I fondly remember being excited to share my music and to be back in the studio.

I actually still use many of the practice techniques and routines to this day, as a professional musician. After my time with Claire Eichhorn, I went on to Oberlin Conservatory and the Cleveland Institute of Music for Bachelor's and Master's degrees in clarinet performance. Throughout my time there, I always drew back to the basics that I had learned with Ms. Eichhorn, and was well served by having not only a strong base, but also a wide variety of music, etudes, and method books already under my belt.

Whatever your goals in music may be, and whether you are a total beginner or have had training, studying the clarinet here is a wonderful, worthwhile, and lasting musical experience. I highly recommend studying with Claire Eichhorn at the Eichhorn Clarinet Studio!!

I took lessons from Claire Eichhorn from 4th grade all the way into college and wouldn't trade the experience for anything. Over the course of those 10 years, I learned how to play and read music, compete individually and collaborate with others in bands/orchestras and, perhaps most importantly, how to love and appreciate music. In training, Claire was fair and empathetic, pushing me hard enough to learn and achieve success but not so hard as to resent the instrument or the effort required to be a good player. I can't recommend her highly enough to musicians of all ability levels. Thank you, Claire!

I was a student of Ms. Eichhorn's for 5 years, and I absolutely loved it. During my time with her, I learned the ins and outs of clarinet technique, and the skills she imparted on me have been well above what I have learned anywhere else. Ms. Eichhorn is among the best clarinetists and performers, and I am consistently inspired by her musical knowledge and advice.

Though my career did not lead me to a path in professional music, my college experience has been so enriched by the ensembles I have joined. Ms. Eichhorn encouraged me to pursue orchestra and chamber music while I was in high school, and that love of ensemble work has guided me to exploring similar experiences in university. The foundational clarinet technique from Ms. Eichhorn also has been extremely useful to my playing throughout my college career.

Ms. Eichhorn is warm and caring, though you'll never worry about her letting mistakes slide! She very much cares about her students' success and wellbeing, in and out of the studio. While I was certainly encouraged to pursue music professionally, Ms. Eichhorn supported me unconditionally both in my musical and non-musical endeavors. No matter what your clarinet goals are, Ms. Eichhorn's studio will have a place for you.

As a former student of Ms. Eichhorn’s, I cannot recommend her studio enough. Through several years of lessons with Ms. Eichhorn, my skills and confidence improved rapidly under her guidance. She is an incredible teacher who not only empowers her students to become high achievers, but also strives to instill in every student a love and passion for music. I wouldn’t trade that experience for anything—thanks for all that you do!
