Amazing to stand on the spot which lead the country closer to the Civil War. Gives me goose pimples just thinking about it.
I like the fire station better.
Kind of a humbling experience thinking about John Brown and reading about him. This of course going to where he was and experiencing what was going through his mind around the raid of the fort just makes it very somber. Just trying to think about him and be in his shoes! He was definitely an extreme abolitionist and may have gone about it in the wrong way, but he is definitely worth looking up and studying!
This is the original location of the fire engine building where fervent abolitionist John Brown was captured (he was later executed in nearby Charles Town). That building is now located 150 feet away and in its place is a monument dedicated to Brown.
Blast to the past, a place of many wonders and history, pleasant in winter and summer. Add your padlock to the bridge or film a move scene. This place has it all.
